Curubanda-Cacao Rural Escape (3D/2N)
Cacao Horseback riding & Thermal Waters!
Day 1 Check in at Curubanda Lodge. Walk through the gardens and trails of the private reserve. Dinner and overnight stay at Curubanda Lodge.
Day 2 After breakfast, Horse riding to Volcán Cacao, unique and off the beaten path. Enjoy the natural waterfall and pools. Lunch. Visit to hot springs and natural pools (transfer on your own). Dinner and overnight stay at Curubanda Lodge.

Rural Escape to Centro Manú (2D/1N)
Day 1 10am: Arrival at MANU and chat on the efforts of conservation of the Association. Lunch. Hike in the private reserve, where you can enjoy picturesque landscapes, lush vegetation and fauna. Diner and karaoke night.
Day 2 Breakfast. Free time in MANU to swim in the natural pools or simply relax. Lunch. Excursion to the organic farm, biodigestor, palm trees and tilapias fish tanks. Learn how to organicaly run a farm, get to know a campesina family, discover their customs and culture and taste the organioc products collected in the farm. 5pm: Packing and head to your next destination. |

Exploring Tortuguero Canals 3D/2N
Day 1 Arrive at La Pavona at 1:00 p.m. take the public barge to Tortuguero towards to La Casona. Public boat transportation is included. Arrive at Tortuguero community. Your local guide will await you to take you to La Casona where you will be served a delicious local lunch. Free time. Optional: visit the Caribbean Conservation Corporation and the Town’s Museum (the entrante fee is voluntary – it is a contribution to the marine turtle conservation). Dinner at La Casona. At 8:00 p.m. Marine Turtle Observation Tour: night guided tour along the beach to observe the nesting of the Green Turtle (August-October) and the Leatherback Turtle (February-April).
Day 2 From 6 to 9:00 a.m. Barge Tour along Tortuguero Canals: admire the magestic cannal while your guide will show you the biodiversity and natural richness of this impressive mangrove forest. Breakfast at La Casona. Visit Tortuguero National Park accompanied by your local guide: 2 hour hike along the park’s trails. Natural history interpration. Lunch at La Casona. Free time to visit the town: bird’s observation, hiking along the beach and shopping local handicrafts. Dinner at La Casona, nightly activities in town (optional).
Day 3 Breakfast at La Casona and take the boat back to La Pavona.

Biolley, with a sense of forest, coffee & valiant women
Day 1 Arrive in the early afternoon for coffee time! Learn about Asomobi Association and its conservation efforts. Then tour to the Pulpería in town with the local guide. The Pulpería is a one-stop shoping place where everyone in town gets together. This local shop is a community business, owned by 40 people in town. It also works as ATM – a type of rural bank. The associates sell there their products, such as plantain, chicken, among others. This “Pulpería” is also a gas station and beauty salon. A very peculiar little rural shop that is the heart of Biolley town! Dinner and overnight at Asomobi Lodge.
Day 2 Delicious breakfast and then choose any of the optional activities described below:

Day 1 Arrive at Costa de Pájaros where your guide will be waiting for you. Enjoy a delicious lunch at butterfly garden of Costa de Pájaros. Take a boat trip to Chira Island (30´). Land transfer from Bocana to La Amistad Lodge by bus. Snack and chat on the women´s project. Bike trip to the handicraft shop of another women' association. Continue the bike ride to Montero beach and enjoy the sunset! Dinner and legends of Chira Island. Overnight at La Amistad Lodge.
Day 2 Early birdwatching tour to Chira´s viewpoint. Breakfast. Bike tour to Palito pier. Mangrove boat tour. Bike back to La Amistad Lodge. Lunch, land transfer to Bocana. Boat back to Costa de Pájaros. |

Day 1 After a days visit in Cahuita National Park, at 3:30 p.m. you will picked up in Cahuita to drive you 4 km into the Caribbean Forest into Casa Calateas Lodge, a Caribbean-style Lodge set in the middle of the forest. Arrival at Casa Calateas before sunset. Welcome with a natural juice. Presentation on the history of the community. Dinner at Casa Calateas. Learn to prepare Rondón, the local fish and coconut stew. Overnight at Casa Calateas.
Day 2 Optional: Before breakfast, visit the lookout point to observe the impressive forest and great amount of exotic birds. Casa Calateas is an excellent place for bird watching - more than three hundred species have been counted to inhabit the area. In the months from October to December, the impressive phenomenon of the raptor migration happens. Breakfast. Caña Gira River & Campesino House Tour. With your local guide, enjoy a refreshing swim at Caña Gira natural pool and then savor a delicious lunch at a Campesino house where you will learn about the local way of life. Keköldi Bribri-Cabecar Escape (2D/1N)
Day 1:Start the adventure at the beginning of the trail, where your Bribri-cabecar guide will tell you about the Bribri-Cabecar Indigenous Territory and about the research project for the reproduction of the iguana verde (Iguana Iguana). Later, he will take you through secondary tropical forest, where you will observe palm trees, cocoa and fast growing trees such as the Javillo and Jovo. Slowly climb into the mountains while observing trees of great size and precious wood. You may also see howler and white faced monkeys, iguanas, leaf-cutter ants and spiders. After an hour hike, arrive to Centro Científico Keköldi, your Bribri-Cabecar style lodge, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, hike 10 minutes to the highest point, where a tower was built particularly for observing the raptor migration. (October to November and February to March). In one day, it is possible to count over 60,000 birds. From this observation point you will see the breathtaking scenery of the Talamanca mountains. Dinner & listen to stories about the Bribri-Cabecar Indigenous territory. Overnight at Centro Científico Keköldi.

Gandoca Rural Escape 2D/1N (March to July)
Day 1 Leave early, passing local banana plantations and campesino farms. In Gandoca, a local guide will greet you with traditional refreshments and introduce you to your host families. Lunch. In the afternoon there will be free time to enjoy the beach and visit the hatchery where the turtle eggs are protected. Dinner. After dinner, gather around your local guide, who will tell you about the sea turtles that nest on the Caribbean Coast, then go for a walk to watch for leatherbacks (baulas), the biggest sea turtles in the world. We will observe the nesting process and learn about ANAI’s research on leatherback turtle protection. Return to your host family’s home.
Day 2 Breakfast Around 8:00 a.m. As an optional activity no included in the itinerary, leave for Gandoca Lagoon, and learn about its natural history (March-July). Delicious lunch and departure. |

Day 1 Arrival at the Los Campesinos Reserve. Introduction to the Quebrada Arroyo village, The Vainilleros Association. Typical lunch prepared in wood heated stove. Walk on the Poza de Olivo Pathway (1 hour), crossing a suspended bridge over the Los Chorros Waterfalls and the forest’s highest point. Swim in the Olivo Spring. Typical Dinner and anecdotes from Quebrada Arroyo. Night at the Los Campesinos Reserve.
Day 2 At 5:30 a.m., walk on the Mirador El Pacifico Pathway (2:00 hour). Our local guide will show us the forest from the country side point of view. We will go to the Mirador El Pacífico by the aerial tram, and then be served a delicious cup of coffee and home made bread, while observing the Manuel Antonio wonderful landscape. 7:30 a.m. Typical breakfast. Juanilama Rural Escape 2D/1N
Day 1 You will be welcomed at Juanilama with a delicious lunch. Chat with the local family to get to know each other. In the afternoon, explore the farm with a member of the family. Take part in some of the family’s daily activities such as harvesting and cheese production. Dinner. Cooking class, or learn how to make soap. Overnight at your Juanilama Cabin.
Day 2 Breakfast. Depart for the Juanilama Reserve Tour. This tour offers a beautiful hike in Juanilama Reserve through secondary and primary rain forest with various species of amazing trees, including the huge La Ceiba. This place is very good for the observation of amphibians, such as the Blue Jeans Poison Dart Frog and the Black and Green Poison Dart Frog. The reserve is also home to howler monkeys, Paca, Agouti, and the Crested Guan, among others. Take a dip in the waterfall pool and enjoy a tropical snack! |
